WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

The UX Researcher will own the overall design research process for our grants management product known as Zengine. This role requires coordination with product managers in order to understand which high-priority problem areas need discovery as well as to propose new areas for prioritization based on the research. Occasionally, the UX Researcher will prepare and deliver presentations to different internal audiences to summarize and disseminate the insights gained from our research. 

The ideal candidate should be comfortable preparing materials for and engaging in various forms of structured communications with clients (new and existing) as well as internal stakeholders, in order to glean valuable insights that will lead to the prioritization, design, and development of solutions that will greatly improve the product experience. 

The UX Researcher will work with the Director of User Experience to take over previously-established research practices and to discuss other methodologies that should be added to existing practices.  As an integral part of the product design team, the UX Researcher will also provide guidance to our UI/UX Designers, from brainstorming solutions to providing feedback about design deliverables for development. Designers will also be available to the UX Researcher, providing materials for testing as well as assistance during the tests.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversees, and has accountability for, the successful completion of all targeted research activities
  • Works effectively and one-on-one with Technical and Non-Technical clients and team members
  • Take the primary role on managing communications and scheduling, as well as planning and resource-allocation, for research activities with clients
  • Produce targeted testing materials in coordination with roadmap stakeholders
  • Provide ongoing research analysis that continues to build our company’s understanding of our clients’ needs and the overall problem space for our product

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE HAS:

  • A research background, including a  bachelor's degree and at least 2-5 years of experience in a related area
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of research methodologies relevant to digital technology
  • The ability to learn quickly, think creatively, and work independently
  • A team player attitude, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to take a leadership role when necessary
  • A high level of organization, with the ability to quickly assimilate and apply new concepts, business models, and technologies
  • The ability to effectively prepare research materials (e.g. usability testing scripts) 
  • The ability to synthesize research analysis and communicate it effectively to stakeholders
